The Daleks. A creature interwoven into the fabric of Doctor Who as much as the Doctor and the TARDIS itself. We're always going to have Dalek stories (and Cyberman ones) but someone really needs to work out how to write them well. Since season 1s 'Dalek', we've had numerous ones already in the new show, parts of which have been extremely good, the overall sum of which have generally been below average, with each time the Daleks 'wiped from history' only to return, miraculously 5 or 6 episodes later. So, how can the new writing team handle the Doctors big bads?

“This isn't going to be big on dignity”

The second episode of Steven Moffats reign with Matt Smith as the Doctor brings us a little sci-fi fairy tale with some good scary moments and again something for all the family to enjoy. It may not be as strong as 'The Eleventh Hour', but if this is one of the series weaker entries, season 5 should be more than a pretty good season.

"No TARDIS, No Screwdriver and 2 minutes to spare. Who da man!"

Doctor Who returned to our screens on April 3rd under the much anticipated control of Stephen Moffat, writer of many of the previous 4 seasons best episodes, plus a new Doctor and assistant. How does the first episode pan out then, as Moffat moves from writing a couple of episodes a season to doing the bulk of the work, can the quality hold up and will Matt Smith be at ease with the role and take over from the very popular David Tennant?

Tuck Bushman is a micro budget feature (made on £625 amazingly!) by the Leeds comedy group The Discount Comedy Checkout (Chris Lumb, Matthew Hick, Matt Jackson, Natalie Smeaton and Rob Girdler). Shot in and around Yorkshire with a lot of help from local communities, it tells the tale of disgraced Australian animal hunter, Tuck Bushman, who is looking to resurrect his career. Luckily for him, a locall town, the titular Piddledown, have a problem with a beast and the mayor calls in the help of people to track it down. Armed with a cameraman and his trusty rules, Bushman goes off in search of the beast, but is all as it seems?

Thoughts & Musings on 6x09 “Ab Aeterno”

"Don't gloat Jacob, it doesn't become you"

Well, a much, much better episode this week. Plot, plot and more plot. In many ways exposition but we get a hell of a lot of answers here and some great acting from Nestor Carbonell.
