Thoughts & Musings on 6x12 “Everybody Loves Hugo”
"Dead people are more reliable than alive people"
Hurley, one of the most like able characters on the show gets his flash sideways episode finally. Following on from last weeks brain melter, this one slots a number of threads started last week into the plot and carries on moving things along very nicely ...
- I did not expect to see Michael again, that came as a real surprise. When he tells Hurley a lot of people will die if they blow up the plane, what does he mean? I'm taking it one of the Universes will cease to exist.
- We finally get told what the whispers are and it is a bit, well, underwhelming. I was convinced they were echoes and voices from the alternate universe, but it appears they are just the souls of the people who have died on the Island and are basically stuck in purgatory.
- I wasn't surprised to see Libby in the alt. universe and this more or less wraps her story up. Good to have some conclusion there. I did laugh at the fact the Doctor made Hugo donate before he'd let him see Libby, yet then we find out she is there voluntarily.
- But I didn't see Ilana's departure coming and the fact that it is more or less ignored by the group as well!
- I'm loving the new Desmond, well, I loved the old one too. He is now ultra cool though. His consciousness seems to certainly have been aligned between the two universes. He is also now uber cool too, the scene with Locke where we and he must have known what was going to happen, just wouldn't give anything away. Hope he isn't dead though, I don't think he will be however. He is also acting very Jacob like in the alternate universe, guiding people to their path
- I loved Ben's little talk about how once the Island is done with you, it is done with you
- So we see the young boy again (I'd actually forgotten about that!) and again antiLocke gets really angry and flustered. Desmond sees him too. Is it a young Jacob, is it a young MiB?
- What the hell is Hurley playing at? MiB now has everyone he needs ... saying that I don't think blowing up the plane will do anything either
- What is the MiB/Jack vibe at the end? Seemed very tense ...
- A great WOW ending, I thought Desmond would be there too talk. I take it he is getting Locke near death to bring about the flashes of the other universe and not trying to kill him
